INT. RESTAURANT KITCHEN - NIGHT
A quiet, Fluorescent and Sterile kitchen. The head chef enters alone, after putting on his chef hat, he adds finishing touches to a salad at the counter. A pizza bakes in the oven nearby.
CAMERA FOLLOWS HIS HANDS AS HE PUTS ON HIS HAT THEN THEN DOWN TO THE COUNTER WHERE HE WORKS ON THE SALAD
At the kitchen counter stands REMI (40s, bald, heavyset).
We never see his face - only the back of his head, his strong, deliberate hands.
A cutting board.
A half-finished salad.
And a small, suspicious pile of white crushed powder.
Remi chops cheese. The knife hits the board in sharp,
rhythmic taps.
In the background, faint laughter.
PAIGE (19) and RYDER (20) sit at the dining table, talking,
joking quietly.
PAIGE(laughing) You seriously think pineapple belongs on pizza?
RYDER(mock offense) It's literally elite. You just have no taste.
Remi's hands pause.
He lifts a small pinch of the crushed powder. Sprinkles it onto the salad.
Stirs.
The movement is mechanical. Routine. On the fridge behind him:
A FINAL EVICTION NOTICE, stuck under a magnet.
Below it, a rejected job application, barely legible.
THE CAMERA GLIDES SLOWLY.FOLLOWING REMI AS HE PLATES TWO
SERVINGS OF SALAD AND REMOVES THE PIZZA FROM THE OVEN.
He turns silently and walks toward the couple with pizza and salad in hand.
REMI (calm, flat) Dinner's ready. PAIGE (brightly) Ooh, look at this

fancy stuff!
RYDER (grinning) Chef's kiss, man. Thank you.
They dig in, still laughing. THE CAMERA LINGERS.
Remi returns to the kitchen counter, wiping it methodically
with a damp cloth.
Behind him, Paige and Ryder eat happily, oblivious.
A slow, almost suffocating silence sets in.
Paige finishes first.
PAIGE (cheerful) Okay, seriously, that was? So good.
RYDER I know right!(calling out) Can we get the check please?
Remi brings them the check book, they pay and stand up to leave.
THE CAMERA FOLLOWS THEM AS THEY STAND UP AND FOLLOWS THEIR FEET UNTIL THEY REACH THE DOOR, THEN MOVING BACK TO THE KITCHEN
Remi comes out of the kitchen to clear the table, as he's packing it up, he watches Paige and Ryder entering their car from the window.
the cars doors shut and the car drives away.
CUT TO BLACK.
A beat of silence. Then:
NEWS REPORTER (V.O.) Breaking tonight - a fatal car accident claims the lives of two local teenagers. Authorities are investigating...
